Vegetarian is a restaurant offering a variety of food and natural and organic supplements over the counter and specializing in regional locally sourced Mexican cuisine.
The establishment is a veteran in the San Pedro municipality, having opened its doors for the first time more than 30 years ago.
The remodeling of the venue called for making it into a place of discovery that combines an informal and domestic ambiance with a glass of organic wine and a connection between nature and the urban jungle. The design needs to turn the well-known establishment into the main naturalist landmark in the San Pedro landscape.
The design integrates and defines the three existing volumes with one same material but different textures. Wood was chosen as the material of choice, not just as a finishing material but also as reinforcement for the existing structure, fusing the past with the present. The volumes are subdivided into containers for vegetation to allow the greenery to grow into the the building’s edges converting it into a garden.
This remodeling project of 2,000 m2 is scheduled to begin in 2016.
